June, 2026 news. UPDATED 6/22**
A lot of things happening. Not much of it is good.
Grid Under AI Control !
I recently discovered that the grid is being prepared to operate nationwide under AI computer control. I searched for this and found several news stories that collaberate what I have found out. Mainly, AI control will take care of the "elites" and the Government and leave the rest of us to fend for ourselves in the event of a cyber attack, emp attack, sun spot emp, or internal issues(war). The AI is programmed to shut down parts of the grid until it no longer deems fit to keep it running for all of us. In that event, it will shut everything down except to selected "elites" and government installations. And the really bad news is that many of these scenarios will leave the ENTIRE Nation DARK for up to a year or more. No power, no water, no gas, no food.....
And That's not the worst of it !
The department of energy updated a report issued in 2025 stating power outages of 800 hrs per year for every American by 2030! Do a search for this: "dept of energy reports power outages of 800 hours" and you can find many places where this report is in the news.......
800 hours of power outages per year on average,for everyone.
That's more than a full month ! And they knew this in 2025. Reports are now saying the projected year is now 2028. Moved up two years from the first report issue date.
No matter how you look at it folks, we're in for a serious change of life soon. Start thinking about gardening, water sources, and pray....
Oh, one last thing, America is actually running out of refinable oil. Yes we have oil, but it's not the kind we can refine here due to enviromentalists suing over any new oil refineries. So believe it or not, we have to actually import a lot of our "usable" oil. As of today,(6/17/26) the Cushing, Ok pumping reserve is out of pumpable oil. Which means the refineries are now running on what they have in stock. There are reserves in other places but no one knows how long they will last. If you use gasoline, you might want to go buy some to store in 5 gallon containers.

China has decided to get serious about competing with other brands of Inverters on the market. Currently I'm testing an Inverter rated at 6.5 kw with two built in mppt controllers rated for 230 volts input. Price: $ 588, now $ 619 with the wifi module.
So
far, it has performed well. I took it apart to inspect it for
quality and rogue equipment. The verdict is, it's fairly well built. I
didn't find anything suspicious inside either. However, the 6.5 kw
output rating is a maximum and I wouldn't expect it to run that way for
a long period of time. Running it at the 3500 watt level I would
expect it to be fine and that's good because that's the level a 30 amp
RV requires at full input. What that means is you can easily power
your RV or tiny house with this unit and get good life from it. 20
yrs?, I don't think so, but still for well under $1000 bucks, there's
not much on the market that can compete with that price.
If I was
on a tight budget I would start with this unit. It can power a
small house with modest needs such as a one room 8000 btu window ac unit
and some lights. Couple this with 3kw of solar panels, and 15kw of
LifePo4 battery storage and you've got yourself a small house system you
can live on fairly well if your careful about energy use. Use the

On June 22, the Powland 6.8kw inverter I was testing FAILED ! There was no warning, no smell, no sound, it just quit. With almost no load on it, and no charge coming in from the solar panels. It was not hot, and never been used above the 3000 watt output level. I have meters that monitor the load power 24/7. This failure was unexpected as the unit had not been abused in any way. Not even taxed to more than half its rated output power.
Conclusion:
At this time, NONE of the 48 volt inverters made in China, selling below $800 dollars are to be trusted. Despite my earlier inspection of this unit, which appears to be well made, internal wiring is not large enough to carry the full 6,800 watts for more than a few dozen minutes. This unit failed in a controlled temperature environment without ever being loaded to it's full rated output, in less than 3 months use.
Look for further testing updates in the future.

Folks, there's a new kid on the block and he's called
SODIUM ION !
This technology MAY replace the LifePO4 batteries we've all come to love.
(actually it's been on the market for a few years)
This battery chemistry can operate in freezing cold, burning heat, and get this.... cannot catch fire.
Yeah, I know, you can make anything burn right? They tried and you can burn the battery up but the battery materials don't burn. It's made from iron, carbon, sodium ash (salt). America has plenty of this material right here so we don't need to go overseas for materials to make it!! Wow !
A small company called "Peak Energy" is responsible for this great new battery. Of course china is already making a similar product, but it's not the same inside, even though it's sold as "sodium ion". And it not the same design as the patented American company design.
These batteries can be shipped with zero charge, and can be cycled to zero without harm unlike virtually all other battery types including lithium iron phosphate.
There is a fully working battery powered Grid System in operation here today!
It's not perfect, but it's close. It doesn't have the energy density of Lithium which means it's a little bigger size for the same power storage, but there are so many other factors making it better I see it rapidly taking over many area's where Lithium has rained supreme for years. Let's hope and pray for Peak Energy's continued success. They fact some large expansion issues in the future and need all the support they can get.

This doesn't mean you should cancel your idea's on using Lithium Iron Phosphate just yet. But it's a heads up that something better is coming. Should we plan on using it now? Probably not, the available choices are limited to 'canned products' like Jackery and Bluetti which offer boxed home power systems today. More are in the planning and early manufacturing stages as this is being written. (Oct. 2025)
Amazon does have listings for some of these newer technology batteries. You might want to get a lawn mower or motorcycle battery and try them out. The fact that they can handle extreme temperatures will make them ideal in outdoor products including cars. A new day is coming.. Finally getting rid of dangerous lead-acid...
